About

Origins of Raceway Hussy

Thank you for visiting my blog! Here’s a little bit about me. My name is Niamh Frances Smith, I’m 21 years old and I live in South Yorkshire.

I’ve been into classic cars for as long as I can remember. It likely stems from my grandad’s 1926 Alvis 12/50 that he has owned since the 60s. Some of my earliest memories of being interested in cars was sneaking into his huge garage and sitting in the gorgeous, worn leather seats.

I had a flit with Volkswagens for a while after my parents bought a 1972 VW Campervan and a 1965 VW Beetle, and my early teenage years were spent attending Volkswagen festivals.

Of course, as soon as I turned 17 and passed my driving test I needed a car and it couldn’t just be a modern heap, so I chose a classic heap instead: a 1965 Morris Minor (affectionately known as George).

At the same age I met my boyfriend, Jake, who had been brought up around hot rods and drag racing. This was my introduction to this world that ran parallel to the classic car scene I had always enjoyed.

Since then, my love for drag racing has grown and, having been always interested in history and writing, these hobbies met up when I started content writing for a muscle car blog.

I decided to begin this Raceway Hussy blog to write about anything and everything that interests me, whilst showcasing my work and hopefully teaching the readers a few things while I’m at it!
